| 2 Timothy
These letters written by Paul to Timothy partly constitute what are generally termed the “pastoral” epistles as they are written to individuals who have a role in guiding the early churches.
This second letter was written about a year after the first, and picks up on the theme of guarding against falsehoods arising in the churches. He again encourages Timothy to hold fast to the teaching originally taught to him by Paul. Paul senses that he is not far from the end of his life and encourages Timothy to visit him and to remain diligent.
