Genesis
The word "genesis" means "generation" or "origin" and comes from the
Greek translation of Genesis 2:4 which speaks of the origin of creation.
It is an appropriate title for the first book of the Bible, which contains the record of the origin of the universe, the human race, family life, sin,
redemption, the beginning of the different nations of the earth, etc.
The book contains the story of Noah and God’s judgements upon the wickedness of mankind, but also defines God’s promises to Abraham,
Isaac and Jacob which ultimately promise peace and prosperity to all
those men and women who truly trust in God.
