Jonah
There appears to be some debate by some Biblical scholars as to the authorship of Jonah’s prophecy but there is no real reason to doubt that the author was Jonah himself. The book relates how Jonah refused God’s initial call to preach God’s word to the people of Nineveh. The episode continues to relate to us Jonah’s punishment for this disobedience, his ready response to a second request to go to Nineveh, and his bitter complaint at God’s sparing the city following her repentance. Christ Himself alludes to Jonah when speaking of His own death and resurrection (Matthew 12:39, 16:4; Luke 11:29-32) and likened his own experience to that of Jonah when he was swallowed by the fish.
