Luke
There is almost universal agreement that Luke, the "beloved physician" as he is referred to in Colossians 4:14 who accompanied Paul on his missionary travels, was the author of the third Gospel record.
The gospel record of Luke is an excellent accompaniment to Matthew and Mark because it includes and amplifies much of the narrative of Matthew and Mark. For instance, out of a total of 1151 verses, Luke has 389 in common with Matthew and Mark, 176 in common with Matthew alone, 41 in common with Mark alone, leaving 544 verses peculiar to himself.
There are seventeen of Jesus’ parables peculiar to this Gospel record and Luke also records seven of Jesus’ miracles which are omitted by Matthew and Mark.
