| Philemon
This is the shortest of all Paul’s letters and was addressed to Philemon (although two other persons are included in the opening greeting).
The main thrust of the letter concerns a reformed character named Onessimus who Paul sends with this letter to Philemon asking him to treat him as a “brother in Christ” despite his previous misdemeanors. The lesson Paul teaches here is one of forgiveness of past sins based upon true repentance, together with the fellowship that exists between believers in Christ when all are of mind.
